Mad Trapper Camporee is an annual Winter Challenge Camp that is open to both Northern Lights and Chinook Council Troops. It is held at Camp Maskepetoon on the NW corner of Pigeon Lake.

Google Map directions can be found here...

Scouts (and third year Cubs) participate in Outdoor Challenge Activities on Saturday that are organized and run by Scouters and/or Venturers. Youth will eat in a common dining hall and sleep in heated cabins. Tenting may be offered at a reduced fee.

Camp facilities limit the number of registrants we can accept. We cap enrollment for Scouts and Scouters, and have limited Venture OOS, kitchen staff, medical and camp executive on top of that.

Change for this year:

  • There will be less activities but they will be longer and there will be a larger gap in between to allow for a less-rushed experience.
  • Crest deadline moved to Christmas Day. Email submissions to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it
  • Registration form will be posted shortly after the Dec 7th meeting.
  • Tenting option to save money will remain available

Planning Meetings at Adventure Centre basement boardrooms B and C, 7:00 pm:

Venturers and Rovers who want to shadow the executive are invited to all meetings!

The Scout Law is the law of the camp!

Registration (Link at the top of the page)

Please fill out the Troop Registration Form for each Patrol. Patrols sizes are capped at 8 youth.

For Troops with only a few members, we will combine 2 Troops to make a Patrol of 5-8 members. If registering more than 1 Patrol, please ensure that you are only listing Scouters once. Payment is to be made in full with one cheque or online with a credit card.

Your fee:

  • $65 per person in cabins (youth / scouter entry fee includes warm bed, meals, camp crests and program expenses.
  • $40 per person in tents
  • $30 per person (Executive, Kitchen and Medical volunteers)
  • Please note that after January 11th, camp fees will be increased by $10 per person).
  • No changes will be accepted after January 18th.
  • Register early to guarantee your section a spot.

All you need to bring is your backpack and disposable mess kit... no cooking, no dishes, no camp setup... come out and enjoy the winter.

This year, if your group wants to sleep in tents you can do that for only $40 each, save $25/person!
